Launching a moderated, bring your own participants study

To set up a moderated bring your own participants study, select Moderated from the "Choose a project" screen.

Once you're on the Details tab, set the duration & select "My participants - send your participants a link to complete the session".

Next, choose the device participants will join from and the language for transcription.

Setting up your calendar

With moderated sessions, you have full control over scheduling.

Configure calendar settings

  • Time between bookings (buffer) is the time between sessions. By default, this is set to 30 minutes to avoid back to back bookings.

  • Advance notice before bookings is the minimum notice that a participant can book a time. By default, this is set to 6 hours to avoids last minute sessions.

  • Max booking per day is the max number of sessions per day.

Set your timezone

After configuring calendar settings, scroll down to set your availability. Drag & drop times that work for you & your team.

Remove availability by clicking the X on the top right of the block.

Once you've set availability, click "Submit Availability" and copy the study link. This is the link you will send to your participants.

Participants will be able to select a time from the link you sent them. A confirmation email with the meeting invite will be sent to your email address.

A meeting link will automatically be generated and listed under Confirmed Sessions.

To join the meeting, click "Join Meeting".

Clicking “Join meeting” will open a popup modal with two options:

  • Joining as a moderator means that you will be visible to the participant. At least one person must join as a moderator to start the meeting.

  • Joining as an observer means that you will not be visible to any meeting participants.

Once the session is complete, it will be uploaded to the participants tab for analysis.

Please allow some time for video processing and transcription.
