This article reviews the type of tree testing studies you can conduct with PlaybookUX.

There are three ways you can conduct a tree test with PlaybookUX

  1. Non-recorded tree test. The participant will complete the tree test on their own time, without a moderator present and without recording their screen. Once the participant completes the tree test, you'll be able to view results in the PlaybookUX dashboard.

  2. Tree test with an unmoderated recording. The participant will record their screen and voice while completing the tree test activity. Once the participant completes the session, you can view a video recording of the participants completing the tree test & the standard tree test analytics.

  3. Tree test with a moderated session. A member of your team will join a call with the participant while they share their screen and complete the tree test.

To view the analytics specific to the tree test head the tree test project. Additionally, you can view the video recordings in the unmoderated project.

How to set up a tree test with an unmoderated session

Start by creating a "bring your own participants" tree test Once you've set up your tree test, you'll receive a URL. Make sure to copy that URL.

Next, you are going to set up a second project. This time select "Unmoderated" as the project type.

You can select either "PlaybookUX participants" or "My Participants", depending on which audience you'd like to target.

When you get to the "Create Questions" step, make sure to add questions to your unmoderated study letting the participant know what you expect of them.

Make sure to include the URL to your bring your own participants tree test. The URL will begin with "https://tester.playbookux.com...."

You can always access the link to the tree test by going back into the tree test project and clicking on the "Study" tab. At the top of the page, you'll be able to copy the tree test URL.

How to set up a tree test during a moderated session

When you join the moderated session, you can send the tree test URL to the participant through the Zoom chat.
