Sharing screen causing audio issues

In case you (the moderator) or the participant is utilizing Chrome to share your screen, you might suddenly stop hearing their voice.

Not to worry, there is a simple fix! When sharing your screen on Chrome, you'll see a screen asking you which browser tab you'd like to share (many of us have multiple browser tabs open!).

Within the screen-sharing window, you'll find a pre-selected button labeled "Share tab audio."

If you keep this option selected, only the audio from your browser tab will be shared, and your computer audio (your voice) won't be shared. In order for the other person to hear you when sharing your screen, you'll need to uncheck that box.

To resolve this issue, follow these steps: first, stop sharing your screen. Then, initiate the screen sharing process again and make sure to uncheck the "Share tab audio" option. This will allow the other person to hear your voice again.

Please note that this behavior was introduced with the May 2023 update of Google Chrome and affects all video conferencing tools (i.e. Zoom, Teams, GoToMeeting, Google Hangouts etc)
